Dr. Jill Baird, DVM
Veterinarian, College Boulevard Animal Hospital
From a 4th-grade dream to the exam room.
Dr. Baird was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, where she always had cats growing up, until a stray dog named Snider found his way to her family. Snider turned out to be heartworm positive, and watching him get treated and go on to be a loyal companion for many years left a mark. The idea of becoming a veterinarian was first put into writing in the 4th grade, in an autobiography assignment about her future plans. It became real in the 6th grade, when her cat Snowball was diagnosed with diabetes and she began giving insulin injections twice a day.
Dr. Baird attended the University of Arkansas for her undergraduate studies (a BS in Chemistry and a BA in German) and graduated from veterinary school at Kansas State University in 2011, where she and Dr. Pippin were classmates. She returned to Arkansas after graduation and spent nearly eight years at a mixed animal clinic before her husband's job brought the family back to Kansas. Away from the clinic, Dr. Baird enjoys reading, making Halloween costumes for her son Teddy, and spending time outside with her family. A newer family tradition, biking in Northwest Arkansas over Spring Break, has been a favorite the last couple of years.
Education & Memberships: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University (2011). Member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association (KCVMA). Continuing education in veterinary dentistry.
Life outside the clinic.
